Hello, everyone! My name is Doug Yahrmarkt (Teacher “D”) and this is my 7th year teaching at Dara Academy. I have taught Prathom 2, 4, 5, and 6; this year I am very excited to teach Prathom 5 once again with my wonderful Thai co-teachers! I have been teaching in Asia since 2002. I worked for a private school in Korea called “GDA” for many years, mostly kindergarten, and first taught at Dara Academy in 2007. I live in San Sai with my wife Lieu, my year-old daughter Jessica, and my dog Sasha. For fun, I like to listen to music, write, read old books, and swim. Sometimes, when the weather is good, I like to ride my bicycle or motorcycle.
I have always enjoyed being a teacher in this part of the world and look at every year as a new challenge. No two classes are alike and I am interested in seeing how a class “dynamic” changes over the course of one year. It is very interesting for me to teach at the varying levels in Prathom and compare that to my previous kindergarten experiences, especially when it comes to exciting, interactive activities like preparing for the NP Fair performance. Last year we had so much fun! I am interested in assuring the children all are able to participate on a level that is engaging – I want to have as much fun teaching as the students do learning!
