Hi, my name is Steven Cawley, I’m 40 years old, and come from England, UK. I did a lot of traveling before arriving in Thailand and have been living in Chiang Mai for more than ten years.  I have a eleven year old daughter in P.6 and a five year old boy starting K.3 this year. We enjoy going swimming and, when we get the chance, traveling together.

This is my seventh year at Dara Academy and I have over fourteen years teaching experience. I like to make my students’ learning experience fun and engaging. I use positive reinforcement in the classroom and set goals for both individuals and teams of students. I teach Prathom 2, and many of the children need a lot of encouragement to speak English, so it’s important they feel completely at ease and without fear of making mistakes.

I focus on practical English and try to fit as many speaking activities into the 50 minute lesson as I possibly can. I hope that you will see your child’s English skills and enthusiasm for learning language grow over the coming year.
