Andy Babb

Hi! I’m Andy. I am originally from Stoke-on-Trent, which is in the middle of England. This year, I will be teaching 2 skills for Matayom 5 and NP classes to Matayom 3. This is my second year working at Dara and I am delighted to be teaching here.  I can’t wait to meet all of my students, and I hope all of my lessons will be engaging, educational and fun.

I studied English Literature at The Nottingham Trent University, writing my dissertation on the English author Martin Amis. After graduating, I worked for the local government in Nottingham for ten years.

In 2012, I trained to become an English teacher and moved to Thailand. Initially, I worked for Chiang Mai University, teaching fundamental English courses to undergraduates. I later moved to Yupparaj Wittayalai, in the centre of Chiang Mai, where I taught upper and lower Matayom classes in Speaking and Listening skills and Gifted English for two years.

Aside from teaching, I have many interests. I love to explore the areas in and surrounding Chiang Mai on my motorbike, particularly Chiang Dao, Samoeng and San Kamphaeng. I am also interested in music. I have played guitar for almost twenty years, and I can also play piano a little. I like to play badminton and swim, and I also read and watch movies.
